Before you surrender to your frustration, review the seven strategies below to enhance your students experience with literature. One (or more!) may be just what you need to spark your students interest. 1. Visit your local library Whether you prefer electronic or paper books, the library can serve as the perfect tool to enhance your students experience with literature. Locate your neighborhood library, and then set aside an hour or more to explore its shelves with your child. Young students will especially appreciate the opportunity to handle physical books. These tips can help you create a summer reading program for you and your child. 2. Offer choice Just as children love to dress and feed themselves, students may appreciate the freedom to select their own reading material. The video animates the voices of three people talking about words in their languages that are difficult to translate.This made me start thinking about words that are difficult to translate from English to other languages. According to this article from The Atlantic, the English word fair has no 1-to-1 translation. Im not a translator, but as someone who has studied Spanish, I always thought phrasal verbs, especially ones that are used in English slang, were hard to translate.Words like bust out which means to quickly remove something from concealment, as in, He busted out his phone and called the police. Or freak out, a word that can be used with several meanings, including to freak (someone) out, which is sort of like scaring and confusing and offending someone, but not exactly.Anyway, let me bust out Googles video for y ou:I hope you found that as interesting as we did. Solve a Puzzleâ€" Give your child a Jigsaw puzzle to put together and let them know there is a prize waiting once they finish the puzzle. It will keep them occupied and build up their cognitive skills. Make a snack â€" Teach your child how to make a snack when they are hungry. It could be something as simple as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. They could get creative with fillings and healthy toppings. Teach them about healthy eating. Watch the smile on their face and their confidence levels go up. Create a home phone â€" with paper cups and a long string. You can play the phone game by calling them or have them call you. Teach them how to answer the phone, make conversation and say bye.
